The Motorola RAZR V3c reviews have been somewhat mixed. Everyone still loves the design of the RAZR V3c, but its size and weight have increased (up from 13.9mm to 20mm) to accommodate the extra features. It still looks great, but the extra width in particular weakens the wow factor somewhat.
More importantly, some of the existing features of the original RAZR have been watered down on the new RAZR V3c, again to accommodate its extra features. The screen, for example, now only displays 64,000 colours, rather than the original's 262,000. Compared with its competitors, the RAZR V3c is starting to look old, and its feature set belongs back in 2004. But for sheer style, you still can't beat it.
The Motorola RAZR V3c is a 3G CDMA device bound for the US market. Because the V3c supports EV-DO rather UMTS, it's six times faster than the V3x. However, it comes with only a 1.3 megapixel camera.
Mobiledia like the Motorola RAZR V3c, but note that with only 30MB of internal storage and no external flash-based storage option, its MP3 player is unlikely to have many tunes to play! Overall, they like the RAZR V3c, writing "Compared to the RAZR V3, the V3c is considerably better, improving both internal and external LCDs, the built-in camera, MP3 playing capabilities, and adding EV-DO broadband access. Keeping its slim profile, the V3c holds the sleek and aesthetic style that made the RAZR-line so popular to begin with." However, they do note some considerable drawbacks: lack of memory, crippled Bluetooth, and no ability to transfer files to and from a PC. This phone is all about fashion, so if that's you're overriding preference, these shouldn't be a problem.
CNET review the Motorola RAZR V3c, and give it 7.3 out of ten. They like the design, improved controls, camera, support for 3G networks, and solid call quality, but they dislike the poor speakerphone quality, lower-resolution display (65,000 colours, against the original RAZR V3's 262,000), and no analog roaming.
PCMag review the Motorola RAZR V3c, and love it! They write "The V3c isn't the most feature-packed phone for Verizon. The Motorola E815 and LG VX8100 both have MP3 players and memory card slots, and the Samsung SCH-A970 has a 2MP camera with optical zoom. But the RAZR V3c combines unparalleled design with excellent voice quality and a good enough feature set. That puts it in a tie with the E815 as our Editor's Choice for Verizon phones."
Finally, MobileBurn review the Motorola RAZR V3c, and they give it a 'recommended' rating. They conclude that "the Motorola RAZR V3c is a cool handset, especially in the pink garb that has recently been made available. The device has a good set of capabilities that include Bluetooth, EV-DO, great speaker independent voice dialing, and a megapixel camera. Battery life is pretty much par for the course for a Verizon EV-DO handset, and while Motorola still needs to work on their implementation of the Verizon user interface, most of the bad aspects of the UI are going to be the same on pretty much any new Verizon handset, so you can't blame Motorola or the V3c much for those."
